weekly assembly number one - presided by John Efrain Baka Johnny sighed, tipping his hat a bit more downward as he stood backstage - waiting for the students to settle down and, frankly, shut up. He wasn't exactly in the mood for having to face anybody else - be it student or teacher, especially with the fact that the principal herself didn't seem to be ready for this day. It was always bumpy in the beginning of the schoolyear, he mused to himself with a secretive little smile. It always always like this, unsure of how to go on and unsure of what it is you're supposed to do next. He shook his head from side to side. This is no different, but it's still awkward in front of them all, with their eyes staring up at him all-knowing and smart-ass.
'Why can't you do this, Lana?' he thought to himself with a roll of his eyes, before silence covered the auditorium and finally he could walk onstage. There was a collective gasp of some of the people in the crowd - predictable - and it took him a few minutes to convince everyone to settle down. This was the downside of looking like one of the most well-known celebrities in the world, and Johnny found that he felt a bit empty when he said that he was used to it. He cleared his throat, however, and picked up the microphone; placing it close to his lips.
"Listen up. This is an orientation. Obviously, you're supposed to shut up and listen. Don't worry. I'm not going to be this strict the whole school year (he grinned a little at the 'woo' that came from the back row), but just for today, just to make sure the concept's drilled into your skulls."
The deputy principal tipped his hat upward, giving a little grin at the students once more, and turned towards the large, white screen - which then flashed one word on it.
THE GIFT
"Tell me, does anyone have an idea what this is?"

Shatz looked up at the man on the stage. The famous John E. Baka, deputy principal for the high school department, part time Starbucks counter boy and most importantly, her so-called sibling through their ‘mother’, or rather, creator, Lana, school PRINCIPAL. Shatz knew why John had such a position in the school. One word—FAVORITISM. The cruel, cold and the ever-so unfair favoritism. Lana only made Shatz out of complete boredom, unlike John who was made purely of her love for Johnny Depp. It’s hard not to be jealous when your mother likes your brother better.
“Shatz, he’s just gorgeous, isn’t he?” A friend beside Shatz squealed. “I bet that butt is as sexy as he is hot!”
Shatz rolled her eyes. What is so attractive about him? There’s nothing on his face but eyes, a nose, a pair of lips and disgusting beard. There was clearly nothing sexy about John to Shatz. It was disgusting hearing all of the girls in the auditorium squeal and swoon in delight as they hear his deep voice through the speakers. Pathetic. Clearly these girls were delusional. Why on earth would he go out, let alone, flirt with them? Haven’t they found out about his little secret yet?
She looked up at the big screen with two large words in it—THE GIFT. She smiled slyly.
Her friend beside her elbowed Shatz. "Was that gift thingy that the Principal was talking about in her letter? What do you think it is?" She blinked.
Shatz smirked. "We have yet to find out." She replied coolly, her left leg resting on the thigh of her right.

"Anyone?"
Clear and true rang his voice, and when nobody seemed to be replying, the deputy principal rolled his eyes and let out a small sigh. People these days never seemed to be reading articles now, did they? Then again, an academy named 'The Academy' was something that didn't stand out. With a small grin he cleared his throat. If only the rest of the public knew who and what were in the premises. If only they knew. Dark chocolate brown eyes looked towards the crowd, holding their gazes and their breaths, and the fingers grasping the microphone stopped their strong hold, making it more of firm than strong, more of smooth and gentle.
"I'll take that as a no," Johnny started, tipping his hat upward with a charming little smile. "Technically, the Gift is the ability to bring paintings to life. Or so that's how it works for M-- the principal." Quick as a flash went the screen, the next slide showing said principal - wearing a business suit and actually looking mature for once. However, behind her on the wall was some kind of large smiley face - and a paintbrush was clearly being hidden behind her. Some of the kids laughed at her, some kept quiet and kept scrutinizing. Poor kids probably would never have fun.
"We're not sure yet as to the possibilities. Maybe they can bring writing's to life. Songs, acts! It all depends on the one who gets the Gift next, and what they're good at. It all depends on what it is the next one in line can do. Speaking of which, do you know why you're here?"
Nobody raising their hand alerted Johnny to the fact that no, they didn't, dad and mom told me to so I could go to France, I'm doing it to see my crush everyday, why AM I here? The deputy principal nearly rolled his eyes at the behavior.
"You're here because you're contenders for the Gift. People who were daring enough to get it. You see, not everyone has the right to it. You have to be chosen by the one who has it, for the gift to be passed down from generation to generation," he stated, the picture of Lana still flashed on the screen. "It's a choosing matter. If the predecessor picks you, then you're the one for that generation. But if she doesn't, then you're a sucker."
A few groans from the crowd.
"High school students, you've got your remaining years here left to earn said gift. Elementary kids, you've got a long way to go. I don't think we offer Prep."
Johnny's chocolate eyes flickered just a moment, and he placed a hand on his hip. "Any questions?"
